How to clean the Steamer

Care instructions for Jiffy Steamer.

It is clear that steamers also need to be cleaned from time to time. Especially the black overflow area in the steamer

(models J-2000 and J-2, J-1) should always be kept clean. Rinse briefly with water and/or wipe with a cloth.

For descaling and cleaning the steamer

If you are not going to use a steamer for a longer period of time, it is recommended that you remove the water container and pour out the remaining water from the steamer. This will prevent water from evaporating in the steamer and the steamer from calcifying further.

The water in the bottle should also be removed and refilled before each use of the steamer. This prevents the formation of algae in the water tank.

Little or no steam Model J-2000, J-1, J-2

The appliance is switched on, the green lamp in the switch lights up, but only intermittent steam or little or no steam comes out of the nozzle.

Your unit is calcified or the inlet is blocked. Caking residues, dust and lint in the inlet could prevent enough water from flowing into the boiler.

Therefore, only a small amount of water is heated or, in the case of heavy soiling/clogging, no water is heated at all and therefore no steam is produced.

The following procedure is then recommended:

Clean the steamer with our Jiffy Steamer Special Descaler.

If the steamer is heavily calcified, please repeat the cleaning procedure several times.

In case of stubborn soiling, please repeat the descaling procedure several times.

If there is no improvement after intensive cleaning, the boiler is completely calcified and the steamer needs a general overhaul.

Recommendation: Descale the steamer regularly with our Jiffy Steamer liquid descaler.

Remove all water from the steamer when not in use, this will slow down the calcification. Use distilled water to prevent calcification. However, contamination, especially in the black inlet, must be cleaned regularly.

Note: Calcification represents wear and tear and there is no guarantee or warranty claim.

For details on the descaling procedure, please refer to the instructions for use supplied or here in the text below.

Care tip Rod set

To avoid jamming of the poles, it is advisable to lubricate the threads on the poles with a little grease or Vaseline.

Caution, use only a little of it and make sure that no residue of the grease/Vaseline sticks to the outside of the poles in order to avoid soiling the textiles.

Care instructions for the water tank

We recommend filling the water tank with fresh water before putting it into operation, as this prevents the formation of algae in the tank. (greenish colouring of the water)

If, however, the water tank should become dirty from the inside, it is possible to clean the tank with a little washing-up liquid and a bottle brush.

Be sure to rinse well afterwards.

To maintain maximum steam performance, the following cleaning procedure is recommended as a regular maintenance procedure.

This maintenance should be carried out at least at intervals of 3- 6 months, or more often depending on the degree of use. This will increase the life of the steamer. If the steamer is not ready for use after the descaling procedure, repeat the descaling procedure. 1.

Disconnect your steamer from the mains socket. 2.

Remove the hose connection on the brass coupling with a spanner and remove the water bottle. Remove the remaining water from the appliance (see illustration). 3.

To clean the water inlet and boiler of your steamer, we recommend the use of Jiffy Steamer Special Descaler. ( Order 500 ml bottle here )

Pour the cleaning solution (approx. 125 ml or 1 cup) into the black area of the steamer. Let the liquid soak in for approx. 30 min. As long as there is descaler in the steamer, the steamer must not be used under any circumstances. Keep the appliance switched off. The descaler can cause irritation when using the steamer. 5.

Remove the cleaner from the steamer by gently shaking it back and forth, preferably over a sink or bucket. (see illustration)

6. now pour fresh water into the black area several times (at least 3 times) in succession, tilt it slightly back and forth and then pour it out. Wipe out the black area with a cloth. This area should always be wiped out when dirty. 7.

Repeat this procedure until only clear water comes out.

Please keep the steamer switched off during the descaling process. The descaler may irritate eyes and mucous membranes.
