FAQs/ Frequently asked questions

Why Jiffy Steamers and what are the advantages of professional steamers:

The first Jiffy Steam Steam Steamers were developed 85 years ago in the USA. By using high quality materials and hand manufacturing, the steamers are robust and long lasting.

As a result, even with heavy use and proper care over a long period of time, high steam output is always available.

The Jiffy Steamer can be used for a variety of tasks ranging from fine garment care to industrial use. The Jiffy Steamer is up to five times faster than ironing without the hassle of setting the temperature. It can be used safely and effectively on both natural and synthetic materials. The Jiffy Steamer's many accessories allow you to tackle a variety of tasks with the power of steam, including steaming hats, carpets, cars, upholstered furniture and more.

In addition, our customers have come to appreciate Jiffy Steamer Deutschland GmbH as a long-time partner and our service offerings.

Which Jiffy for my needs

You want to buy a Jiffy Steamer but which model suits your needs?

Jiffy Steamer J-2000, optionally with plastic nozzle, metal nozzle ( J-2000M):

This steamer is our most sold one. It has been used successfully in almost all areas for years.

Areas of application:

Single units in small to medium stores and with multiple units in large stores in the fashion industry. Also in showrooms, photo studios, photo and film production, museums, theaters, styling, costume departments, home and many more.

Jiffy Steamer J-2, J-2M:

Can be used in the same way as the above Jiffy Steamer J-2000.

Difference Jiffy Steamer J-2000 and Jiffy Steamer J-2

There is no difference in performance between the two devices. Only the J-2 has, due to its slightly larger bottle, about 30min. longer steam time per bottle filling.

This does not really matter for daily use, since the water tanks of the J-2000 and the J-2 can be filled quickly and the devices are ready for use again in about 1 minute.

The Jiffy Steamer J-2 is the older model, but is still produced and sold. So the decision is more a matter of taste. Customers report that when the J-2 is moved, the water bottle with only a little water, can fall out of the steamer easier. But even this usually does not matter, because the water bottle is quite robust.

Jiffy Steamer J-4000, J-4000M

Our Jiffy Steamer J-4000 are industrial steamers. This means that these steamers are often used in the returns department of large fashion companies. They are also used in large distribution centers and online trading in the fashion industry. For use in stationary areas, the J-4000 are not so popular, because they have a heating time of 20 minutes and are therefore not as mobile as the J-2000 steamer.

Jiffy Steamer with i- Multi-nozzles:

The Jiffy Steamers J-2000i, J-2i, J-4000i are our steamers for universal use for wrinkle removal in textiles of all kinds. The J-2000i, for example, is often used in theaters, museums or even in the home because of its different nozzles. Basically, however, you should keep in mind that you should always change the nozzle for the different applications, otherwise it makes no sense to use these devices.

What do you need an i-Multisteamer for:

1. the normal metal nozzle: clothing, upholstery,

2. carpet nozzle wide: curtains, drapes, mattresses, carpets, large fabric surfaces.

3. pipe nozzle: for hard to steam areas on clothes ( such as elaborate wedding dresses) or even upholstered furniture. Also very suitable for hats, hair replacement.

4.The attachment brush for the tube nozzle is good for cleaning hard to reach surfaces. ( e.g. corners of window frames, tiles etc).

Jiffy Steamer J-4000D, J-4000DM, J-4000Di.

Fields of application: Interior decorators, tent manufacturers, wedding gowns and evening wear.

These steamers have a longer hose to allow steaming at greater heights and over large areas. Long dresses and skirts as well as evening wear can also be processed with these steamers. But: Normal work as with the above mentioned steamers ( J-2000, J-2) are not suitable with these special steamers. Why not? The longer hose would quickly sag when steaming on normal clothing. This would quickly cause condensation in the hose, which would be pressed upwards with the steam flowing in. As a result, hot water escapes from the nozzle and drips onto the fabrics, and could cause scalding.

Special Steamer J-1, J-4000H, J-2000W, J-4000W, J-2000SBR, J-4000SBR

These steamers are prepared for processing all types of hutches. In particular, the Jiffy Steamer J-1 is highly appreciated as the successor of the Riefenstahl hat steamers. The J-4000H has the same function but a longer heating time with standby function. Steamer J-2000W and J-4000W are mainly used for wigs, synthetic hair and temporary hair designers. But are also suitable for foil removal in the car.

Steamer J-2000SBR and J-4000SBR are designed for processing shoes.

They can neutralize odors, widen shoes and make them more supple. Shoe suppliers for high performance sports appreciate this type of steamer.

Generally recommend our protective gloves against scalding by hot water or steam for the use of all steamers.

Difference plastic nozzle and metal nozzle

Customers often ask about the difference of the plastic nozzle and the metal nozzle.

The plastic nozzle, unlike the metal nozzle, is lighter in the hand.

This is true, especially if you have to steam many garments one after the other over a longer period of time. On the other hand, the plastic nozzle can wear out more quickly or is naturally more susceptible to breakage. The metal nozzle, however, is very stable, wear almost impossible. (The wooden handle may need to be replaced).

Condensation evaporates more quickly in the metal nozzle than in the plastic nozzle. But there is a remedy for this: As soon as you take the nozzle from the suspension rod again with your hand after a steam break, stretch the hose with the nozzle vertically upwards once, then the condensed water runs back into the steamer. Care Jiffy Steamer

It is clear that steamers also need to be cleaned from time to time. Especially the black overflow area in the steamer

( models J-2000 and J-2) should always be kept clean. Rinse briefly with water and/or wipe with a cloth.

Descaling and cleaning of the steamer

Link Jiffy Steamer Germany explanatory video for decalcification of the Jiffy Steamers J-2000, J-2, J-1

https://63452188.shop.strato.de/c/demovideos

If you do not use a steamer for a longer period of time, it is recommended to remove the water tank and pour out the remaining water from the steamer. This will prevent water from evaporating in the steamer and also prevent calcification.

The water in the bottle should also be removed and freshly filled before each use of the steamer. This prevents the formation of algae in the water tank.

Little or no steam Model J-2000, J-1, J-2

The unit is switched on, the green lamp in the switch is lit, but only intermittent steam or little or no steam comes out of the nozzle.

Your unit is calcified. Caking residues in the inlet prevent sufficient water from flowing into the boiler.

Therefore, only a small amount of water is heated or, in the case of heavy soiling/calcification, no water at all,

no water is heated and therefore no steam is produced.

The following procedure is recommended: You clean the steamer with our special descaler or commercially available liquid descaler,

e.g. for coffee machines.

In case of heavy calcification, please repeat the cleaning procedure several times.

In case of stubborn soiling, please allow the descaler to act for a longer period of time.

If no improvement has been achieved after intensive cleaning,

the boiler is completely calcified and the steamer must be overhauled.

Recommendation: Descale the steamer regularly with our Jiffy Steamer liquid descaler.

Remove all water from the steamer when not in use, this will slow down the calcification.

Note: Scaling is not a warranty issue.

The J-1/ J-2/ J-2000 models are suitable for continuous daily use,

but they must be decalcified regularly on a weekly basis.

For details on the descaling procedure, please refer to the instructions supplied with the machine or here in the text below.

Care tip Rod set

To avoid jamming of the rods, it is recommended to lubricate the threads of the rods with some grease or Vaseline.

Attention, use only little of it and look,

that, if possible, no residues of the grease/Vaseline remain on the outside of the rods,

to avoid contamination of the textiles.

Care instructions for water tank

We recommend to fill the water tank with fresh water before start-up,

because this will prevent algae from forming in the tank. (greenish coloration of the water)

Should the water tank nevertheless become dirty from the inside,

it is possible to clean the tank with some washing-up liquid and a bottle brush.

Be sure to rinse well afterwards
